“Another Moon” by Tearjerker // Hiding (2012)

For the past few years, Toronto’s Tearjerker have been consistently releasing some of the best shoegaze you’re likely to hear out of an active band. The past two years have seen them release two stellar full lengths, a batch of singles, and now an incredible new 4 track EP, titled “Hiding” (all digitally available at Bandcamp). “Another Moon” is a killer track from that new EP. Lead by an excellently loud and hypnotic guitar riff, the hazy vocal melody wraps around the warm guitars and offers up one of the bands most sweetly upbeat rhythms. It’s got an old school indie guitar rock vibe spiced up by a killer shoegaze vibe that wraps up everything in a delicious bit of honey dipped ear candy. Highest recommendation for fans of Yuck, Galaxie 500, and My Bloody Valentine

“Tearjerker really seem to harness the power of not only a great hook, but also carve out something of an atmospheric listening space within their songs that I find myself compelled to visit. […] Rare makes me even more confident that Tearjerker are one of Toronto’s most promising and exciting new bands going right now.”

RARE HAZE

Toronto’s Tearjerker just released their new album Rare and it’s one of the biggest and best treasure boxes full of fuzzy shoegaze gems you’ll ever find. The 9-track album stays consistent with its dreamy, lo-fi shoegaze approach and it’s done to absolute perfection. The way the fuzzy guitars accompany those impish and distinctly boyish vocals is nothing short of amazing as its hazy reverbed trails haunt the surrounding atmosphere with its heartbreaking somber undertones. Be sure to check out the dreamily delicate lullaby “Dark” down below and grab the rest of the stunning album over at Bandcamp.
